Hello and welcome to our Blog!

We are a group of librarians and future librarians who care about great literature for youth, and
together we have selected what we believe to be some of the most outstanding, timeless, relevant, and touching books ever written or illustrated for tweens (that’s a term for youth who are in be"tween" childhood and young adulthood, approximately ages 9-15).

You will encounter a wide array of different choices, from graphic novels, to journal-style fiction, to classics. But you will also find a common thread amongst these award winners and hidden gems, and it’s kind of a big deal for tweens: FRIENDSHIP. Yes, the middle school to high school years can be a daunting time for a tween’s social development. These books all touch on those moments when your best friend can become your worst enemy, when an unlikely friendship can arise from owning a new pet or from meeting a crazy old cat lady, or just those moments when you feel like you have no friends at all.

There is something in these selections for everyone, and who knows, maybe even one of these books will become your new best friend. Toggle through the tabs above to see the titles we found interesting and recommend!

FRIENDSHIP GENRE GROUP:
